Brainerd Lake Dam, located in Cranbury, New Jersey, fails to pass dam regulations. The dam's concrete overflow spillway was deemed inadequate and excessive deterioration was noted.
It will be our group's job to assess the characteristics of the watershed, predict the watershed's response to various storm events, and re-design the dam to better accommodate the area.
In order to complete this project, several resources must be used. The assistance of our Discipline Advisor Dr. Horst and our Industry Advisor Russel Ray (DEP) will be crucial for our success. We will also use our knowledge of hydrology, the HEC-RAS computer program, and several online resources from USGS and the web soil survey.
GROUP MEMBERS
Will Haduch (pictured to the left) is a Civil Engineering major at The College of New Jersey. His hometown is Branchburg, New Jersey. After completing a summer internship at the U.S. Geological Survey, Haduch realized that he'd like to concentrate on the Water Resources discipline of Civil Engineering. Haduch is a three-year letter winner as a linebacker and safety on the TCNJ football team. In his spare time, Haduch enjoys songwriting, playing sports, and having philosophical conversations.
Mike Davies (pictured to the left) is also a Civil Engineering major at The College of New Jersey. His hometown is Ridgewood, New Jersey. Mike Davies had a summer internship at the New York Department of Transportation where he inspected several roadway projects. Davies is a four-year Rugby player at TCNJ and enjoys classic rock. He is also an active member of the fraternity SAE.

Cranbury Township is located in Middlesex County in Central New Jersey.

The dam, which also serves as North Main Street is oriented north/south and is located on the western side of the lake. Route 130 runs past the eastern side of the lake. While viewing this picture, it is important to notice the close proximity of private residences.
